Clara was born August 1, 1916 in Hillsview, SD to John and Elizabeth (Ettle) Vogel. She graduated from the 8th grade, and then helped her Dad on the farm until she and her sister went to Rapid City to work in the hospital. Later she came to White Lake where she worked in the cafe and met Lawrence. They were united in marriage on November 7, 1938 and moved to a farm south of White Lake, where they spent the rest of their married life. She worked at Aurora-Brule Nursing Home from 1970 to 1985.

In 1989, Clara moved into town and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. When her health started to fail in 2006, she entered the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home. Clara was a member of the White Lake Auxiliary and St. Peters Catholic Church.

Grateful for having shared her life are her seven children, Darlene (Don) Beckman of White Lake, Joyce Henderson of McFaland, KS, Larry (Rose) Kieffer of Howard, Delores (Dick) Mathey, Richard (Diana) Kieffer, Mike (Tina) Kieffer, and John (Kris) Kieffer all from White Lake; 25 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; 11 step great great grandchildren; one sister, Tillie (Bud) Clark, Luverne, MN; and a brother, Norbert Vogel, Coon Rapids, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1986; her parents; seven sisters; five brothers, and a son-in-law, John Henderson,
