Peter Eckel, 80 years old, died at the home of Jul. Hanft, 1212 North Church street, at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday evening after a short illness.
Deceased was born in Germany, March 1, 1837, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Eckel, Sr. He was married to Theresa Scholl in this city April 19, 1862. Mrs. Eckel died a number of years ago.
He is survived by one son and three daughters: Charles Eckel, of East St. Louis; Rose Eckel, East St. Louis; Mrs. Fredericka Kuntz, Belleville; Mrs. T. J. Price, Belleville. A number of grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the T. J. Price residence on East First Street to Walnut Hill Cemetery.
