Pioneer Resident Called by Death

Matts Frost, pioneer resident of the Swaburg Uehling community for
three quarters of a century, passed away at his home at Uehling,
Saturday night of general infirmities due to his advanced age of 88
years, 10 months and 18 days.

Mr. Frost was born at Mora, Bonäs, Sweden, on February 14, 1854,
and died January 2, 1943, at Uehling, Nebraska. He came to
Nebraska from the old country 76 years ago and on July 7, 1880, was
united in marriage to Carrie Erickson, the venerable couple
celebrating the 62nd anniversary of their long married life last
July. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Frost first settled on
a farm in the Swaburg community where they resided until about 31
years ago when they retired and moved to Uehling.

Surviving members of the family in addition to the aged wife, are
a daughter, Mrs. Lars Larson of Uehling, and two sons, Fred of
Fremont and Harry of Overton. He is also survived by a brother,
Charles, in Washington state, and a sister, Mrs. Nels (Margaretta)
Johnson, of Fremont. Funeral services under the direction of
Wollmer & Warne of Hooper were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from
the home and at 2 o'clock from the Uehling Congregational church
with Rev. Oscar Swanson of Oakland as the minister in charge.
Music for the rites was by Mrs. Fred Butler and Mrs. LeRoy Buck
with Mrs. Ivan Wedergren a pianist. Pallbearers were Lawrence
Shepard, Howard Soderling, Wallace McBroom, Carroll and Hubert
Anderson and Ernest Crawford. Burial was made in the Baptist
cemetery.
