TWIN FALLS • Lucille Elizabeth Wakewood, 87, of Twin Falls, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at Twin Falls Rehabilitation and Care Center. Thank you to all at the center, who were like family at her home away from home.

Lucille was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Loma, Colo., to George and Barbara Neiwerth. She lived in the Rupert area most of her life, with the exception of the snowbird life of winters spent in Yuma, Ariz., with the love of her life William (Bill) Wakewood.

She and Bill were married Nov. 11, 1943. The spent an amazing life of just over 60 years loving each other. Their marriage began at the end of World War II, where Lucille devotedly left the security of her home in Rupert to be a loyal companion to Bill as he contributed his strengths to the Air force. When the war ended, the couple moved home where Bill’s family owned a farm in Rupert. Lucille was a dedicated farm wife and great mother. They worked hard but knew how to have fun. They were members of the Rupert Country Club, Elks and Lucille also kept busy as a Cub Scout den mother. They were members of the St. Mathews Episcopal Church, where Lucille took pleasure in providing cut flowers from her garden.

Lucille is survived by her brother, George (Shirley) Neiwerth; sisters, Rosemary Becker, Linda Richan and Elsie Hildebrandt; son, Kendal (Victoria) Wakewood of Twin Falls; grandchildren, Annie (Bradley) Olson of Seven Valleys, Pa., AJ (Joanna) of Yucca Valley, Calif., Nicole (Adam) Hahn of Naples, Italy’ and Alden Orgain of Las Vegas, Nev.; great-great-grandchildren, Andrew Wakewood Jr., William Wakewood II and Ellie Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herbert Neiwerth and Daniel Neiwerth; sister, Irene Neiwerth; and two babies.

Holy Eucharist will be from 6:30-7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, St. Mathews Episcopal Church, 902 Sixth St. in Rupert; a viewing for family and friends will follow at Hansen Mortuary, 710 Sixth St. in Rupert. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, at St. Mathews Episcopal Church, with additional viewing an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.

The Episcopal Guild will sponsor a light meal at St. Mathews Church following the burial.

In addition, the family would like to thank Lucille’s longtime sister-in-law for her loyal companionship over the last years of her life. Family would also like to acknowledge the support of Janet King for her role in adding peace and hope through regular communion in Lucille’s home when she was unable to travel. With the love and the support of family and friends we are truly blessed.
