William Ortigies age 88, of Monticello, died Sunday morning, February 2, 2003 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning at S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 until the time of the service at the church.Surviving is a sister-in-law, Laura Ortgies, Anamosa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and his brother Alvin.William Ludwig Henrich Ortgies was born was born April 19, 1914 in Cass Township, Jones County, Iowa. He was the son of G. Henry and Frieda Kray, Ortgies. He received his education in the rural schools of Cass Township. Bill then started farming the family farm. He farmed in Cass Township until he moved to the Care Center in 1987. Bill was a life long member of S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church. He was baptized there on May 27, 1914 and Confirmed his faith in 1929.
