John is the son of Henry & Catherine (Goebel) Kokenge.

John married Antoinette "Nettie" Hagemann on February 22, 1916 in New Vienna, Iowa.

John and Antoinette are the parents of one daughter:

John Kokenge, well known Granville resident, passed on at his home Friday, January 12th after a long illness, at the age of 62 years, 11 months.

He was born January 25, 1883 at New Vienna, Iowa, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kokenge of Alton. On February 22, 1916 he married Antoinette Hagemann of New Vienna. The family have lived in the Granville community for many years and have the sympathy of a host of friends.

Surviving are Mrs. Kokenge and one daughter, Mildred; six brothers and four sisters, namely Anton and Joe of Granville; Al of Chicago; Earnest and Cyril of Alton; Mathew of George; Mrs. Henry Kellen and Mrs. Wilfred Von Bergen of Sioux City; Mrs. Gerald McCarthy, Alton; Mrs. Theodore Klein, Granville. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Clem Full and Irene.

Funeral services were held Monday at Granville in St. Joseph’s Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
