Taylor County Star News, Thurs. Mar. 31, 1949, p. 9:5. Funeral Yesterday for Mrs. Robert Bix, 57. The Rev. Gregory Reuter conducted funeral rites yesterday morning at the Holy Rosary church for Mrs. Robert Bix of Medford who passed away Monday morning at the Medford hospital, where she had been a patient since March 18 when she suffered a stroke. Nee Helena May, she was born at Medford on Nov. 12, 1891. On Aug. 21, 1917, she was married to Robert Bix. They operated the City Hotel for 12 years, and since 1939 she had owned and operated the Pal’s Cafe. She was a member of the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters, the Rosary Society, and the Daughters Charity club. The six months previous to her death she had been in poor health. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Rita, Mrs. Marlin Miller, Medford; two sons, Robert jr. and Lee both at home; two brothers, John May of Milwaukee and Joe May of Medford; one sister, Mrs. Carl Kiessling of Sheboygan; and one granddaughter, Lana Lee Miller, A brother Lawrence and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Niggeman, preceded her in death.
