SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - Funeral services for Robert Weitzel, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Will Voss, the Rev. Charles Hunderhill and the Rev. Randy Pitkin officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff.
He died March 24, 2001, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
He was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Scottsbluff, to Alex and Mary (Martin) Weitzel.
He grew up and received his education at Lake Alice School.
He married Susan Last Horse on April 1, 1959, in Torrington. He farmed the area for a number of years and then worked with Pathfinder Irrigation and Great Western Sugar until his retirement in 1993.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of Scottsbluff; sons, Robert Tapster and his wife of Torrington, Tim Tapster and his wife of Lingle and Pete Weitzel and his wife, Dale Weitzel and William Weitzel, all of Scottsbluff; daughters, Betty Ann Christy and her husband of Douglas, Sandy Schuldies and her husband of Minatare, Neb., and Karen Weitzel and Lucy Lang and her husband, all of Scottsbluff; brothers, Joe Weitzel of Lincoln, Neb., and Albert Weitzel of Bridgeport, Neb.; sisters, Rachel Wagner of Snohomish, Wash., Martha Lucas of Denver and Ester Houston of Redington; a brother-in-law, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, one sister and two infant sisters.
