"Mildred Elizabeth Hanel, 83, of Cameron, died Sunday, September 28 at Cameron nursing center. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Monica's Catholic Church with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial followed in the St. Monica's Cemetery. Visitation was 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary recited at 7:00pm at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hanel, a homemaker, was born December 25, 1930 in Violet, Texas, to Frank Joseph and Emma Emily (Hoelscher) Karnowski. She married Clarence Hanel on January 20, 1951, and he preceded her in death earlier this year. She worked as a teacher's aid for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church where she served on the St. Monica's Ladies Society. She had served as a Girl Scout leader and was active in 4H for many years. She was also proceeded in death by 2 brothers, Albert and Ed Karnowski and a sister Regina Gros. She is survived by three sons,
two daughters, a brother, three sisters, 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren"
