Florance Gilbert ("F. G.", "Ski") Karnowski, 91, of Alcoa passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

He was born in Los Angeles, Texas, served on the USS Roi and the battleship USS Iowa during World War II, received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Texas A & M University, retired from ALCOA, and was an avid woodworker. He coached basketball at Our Lady of Fatima School, was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Christine Michalka Karnowski, parents Frank and Emma Karnowski and four siblings.

He is survived by children and their spouses: Pamela and Lawrence Bryson, Cynthia and Mike Stuart, Frank and Cindy Karnowski, Becky and David Weaver, Jenifer and Bob Smith, Jerome and Robin Karnowski, Kristina and Lee Hill, Mary and Robert Cooper, Thomas and Dana Karnowski, and Eric Karnowski and Mark Saperstein; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Madeline Wessels, Jo Zvonek, and Ann Heinrich of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017.at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home followed by a Prayer service and Rosary.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, with Father William McKenzie and Father William McNeeley officiating. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses of Blount Memorial Hospice and request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Blount Memorial Hospice or to the charities of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
