Jenny (Jane) Vinke (= Finch) was born in January 1857 in the village of Dolton, located just immediately south of the city limits of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, daughter of Gerrit Vinke and Johanna Westerhof, both born in the northwestern part of the Dutch eastern province Overijssel. Her parents married on 11 August 1852 in Zalk en Veecaten, Overijssel, Netherlands. She was named for her parental grandmother Jentje van den Berg.

Jane Vinke married on 29 June 1876 in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois at the age of 19 years to the five years older John Kleinhuizen, who had Dutch parents too. Hyde Park is a neighborhood and community area on the South Side of Chicago. It is located on the shore of Lake Michigan, seven miles (11 km) south of the Chicago Loop.
