Elvera D. Cutter, age 90, of Dillsboro, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Dearborn County Hospital following a long illness. Elvera was born July 31, 1924 in Pocahontas, MO to Charles Martin Kieninger and Mathilda Bellman Kieninger. She graduated from Pocahontas High School and in 1948 she moved to Farmers Retreat to live near an uncle. Her parents both died at an early age, and she was raised by an older sister. Elvera had a twin sister, LaVera, who moved from Missouri shortly after Elvera did, and the two of them shared many activities with each other. In 1949 Elvera was married to Loren W. Cutter, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2003. Elvera was employed for a time at Schenley Distillery in the cafeteria. Elvera and her twin sister, and their spouses lived near each other, and grew tobacco and made sorghum. Elvera was a member for several years at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat, and most recently she was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Loren, 3 sisters, and 5 brothers. Surviving is her twin sister, LaVera Barlow, of Dillsboro, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Elvera will be Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, with Pastor Richard Wilke officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Loren, at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Farmers Retreat. Friends may meet her family on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Memorials in her name may be given to Dillsboro Life Squad or to Friendship Volunteer Fire Dept.
