John Koslik, 84, of Monessen, died Monday, March 27, 2006, in Canonsburg Hospital. He was born May 24, 1921, in Monessen, a son of the late Martin Koslik and Katherine Matvey Koslik. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, the Slovak Cultural Society, American Legion Post 1028, and VFW Post 1190, all of Monessen, and the Disabled American Veteran Chapter 16. Mr. Koslik was an employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant, prior to his retirement. He was a 1941 graduate of Monessen High School. Enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942, Mr. Koslik served in four campaigns in the Pacific and the Aleutian Islands. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient for meritorious achievement in ground operations with Company G 7th Infantry Division. Surviving are three sons, John Koslik Jr. and wife Maureen, of Belle Vernon, Terrance Koslik, of Monessen, and Lawrence Koslik and wife Rhonda, of Woodsfield, Ohio; one daughter, Kathleen Koslik, of Buffalo, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Kent, Kellen, Shawn, Anthony and Kimberly; one niece, Janice Lefevre; and one sister, Frances Vreeland, of Tampa, Fla. Preceding him in death were his wife, Goldie Eglar Koslik; four brothers, Joseph, Steve, Martin and Michael; and one sister, Helen Marcinkiewicz. Friends will be received Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., Monessen. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 30, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen.
