Salvatore Calcagno, age 96, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed from his life on Sunday, October 26, 2014.
Salvatore came to Rio Rancho from Deer Park, NY in April of 1975.
Salvatore was preceded in passing by his wife of 61 years, Mary.
Salvatore is survived by his three children, Constance DeCerbo of Kings Park, NY, Tom Chappell of San Diego, CA and Paul Calcagno of Rio Rancho, NM, three grandsons, Damian (Lindsay) DeCerbo, Jason (Amy) DeCerbo and Anthony (Kristen) DiCerbo, five great-grandsons, Mason, Caleb, Blake, Cody and Austin. Salvatore served in the United States Army from 1941 through 1945, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant in the CBI Theater.
A very civic minded man, Sal was a life member in the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, Deer Park, Long Island, NY since 1953. Salvatore served on the original Rio Rancho Honor Guard, and was a 61 year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 5890 in Rio Rancho.
Salvatore will be missed.
A Viewing and Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, Rio Rancho, NM.
