From Knoop Family History: Jacob Knoop was born in Oho Nov 30, 1798 and was a son of John and Barbar (Holstein) Knoop. Jacob died Dec. 18.1877. There is a marker in Staunton that marks the spot where Dutch Station stood and where Jacob Knoop was born. It is inscribed "On the spot stood the fort built 1798." Here was born the first white male child in this county Jacob Knoop. Erected by Miami Chapter Daughters American revolution Troy, Ohio 6/14/1905. Jacob with his brothers John and George were pioneer entrepreneurs involved with agriculture, corn meal and whiskey. They created the Knoop children's home in 1877.
