Patricia Ann (Witmer) Gamble, 81, of Broken Bow died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Kathy Salts officiating. Burial will be at Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary is
in charge of the arrangements.
She was born June 7, 1933 in Pender, NE to George and Caroline (Koopman) Witmer. On October 10, 1954, she married Dale Marple in Wayne, who later died in a vehicle accident. They had one son, Jerry. On May 22, 1959, she married Bill Gamble in Wayne and they had three daughters.
Survivors include son, Jerry Marple and his wife Deb of Broken Bow; daughters Joni Paulsen and her husband Steve of Kearney; Jill Hadwiger and husband Darryl of Pleasanton; and LeeAnn Amm of Kearney; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She grew up in Wayne and graduated from Wayne High School in 1950. After graduation, she attended Wayne State College and worked at The Morrison Hotel as a waitress. During her married life, she and Bill lived in Aurora and moved to Broken Bow in 1961. She was a stay at home mom and did in-home babysitting until 1977. She was then employed at Stockman’s Café and the Tumbleweed Café until she retired in 2003.
She enjoyed her family, her grandkids, bowling, football (especially the Huskers), doing word puzzles, and reading.
She was always known to greet people with a big hug and a warm smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, and a great-grandson, Tylin Marple.
