Hazleton Plain Speaker; Friday, August 23, 1935:
Frank J. Bommer, aged 58, who made his home with his sister, Mrs. John Marinko of 323 West Fourth street, died at the state Hospital at 5:30 this morning from a fractured skull he suffered at 6 o'clock Monday evening when he fell over from a weak spell and struck his head on a curb at Laurel and Chestnut streets. At the time of the accident he was taken to the hospital by Harold Smith of the Yellow Taxi Company but returned home after being treated at the dispensary. Tuesday morning he returned to the hospital after his condition became worse and from that time on he grew worse. Yesterday afternoon he lapsed into unconsciousness and remained in a stupor until he passed away.

His wife, who was formerly Miss Mary Corcoran of Hazleton died in 1917 at Freeland. Mr. Bommer was born in Hazleton and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bommer who preceded him in death years ago. He was a barber and worked at the trade with his father for some years on East Chestnut street between Wyoming and Laurel streets. He worked as an assistant foreman for the Wyoming valley Water Supply Co. in his younger days. He was a brother-in-law of Adam Smith, whose sister Mrs. Charles Burns, was slain yesterday by her husband who succumbed at the State Hospital from self inflicted wounds after shooting himself.

Mr. Bommer who lived twelve years at Philadelphia returned to this city two years ago and had been unemployed. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church of this city.

Surviving him are two children: Harry Bommer of Philadelphia and Mrs. Stephen Drasher of Upper Lehigh. Three grandchildren and the following sisters survive: Mrs. John Marinko, Mrs. George Miller, Mrs. Adam Smith, Mrs. George Krieger, Mrs. Lamar Kelly, Mrs. Edward Kemp and Mrs. Paul Culp all of Hazleton; Mrs. John Graaf, of Weatherly, and Mrs. Thomas Curtiss of Drums.
