Helen Lorain Connors, age 85, of Bad Axe passed away on May 6, 2014 at her home at Country Gardens, surrounded by her family.
Helen was born in Port Huron on March 10, 1929, the daughter of the late David and Amelia (Pabst) Weiss. She graduated from Port Huron High School in 1947 and attended Port Huron Community College.
Helen worked at Chrysler until she married her husband, Mark J. Connors. They were united in marriage on September 3, 1949. After moving to Bad Axe, she was office manager at Leppick Distribution, continuing to work when Sharlands Distribution owned the business, and finally, Draves Distribution. Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, singing in the choir with her husband which she loved so much. She also enjoyed golfing with her husband, walking, working in her yard, cooking, knitting, traveling and spending time with her family. Helen will be remembered as a strong soul. Helen’s will to really live life will be respectfully remembered.
Helen is survived by her sons; Greg (Beth) Connors of Rio Rancho, N.M., Scott Connors of Albuquerque, N.M., Jeff Connors of Bad Axe, daughter Wendy (Lee) Gettel of Pigeon and son Kelly (Sharon) Connors of Fenton; grandchildren who adored her: Kristine (Nate) Flores, Jade Connors, Gage, Tori, Chase and Aarynd Connors, Kelson and Kennedy Connors, and great grandchildren Shabastian Connors, and Connor Flores, her brother Christian Weiss, of Port Huron, and sister Jayne Reeves of Port Huron, brother- in- law Conway Longson of Okemos, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mark, parents David and Amelia Weiss, her son David (D.J.) Connors, her brothers Pete and Ruby Weiss, sisters Sophia Roth, Maria Longson, and Sarah Stockwell.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11am on Saturday, May 10th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-8:00 pm on Friday, May 9th at MacAlpine Funeral Home and Saturday at 10 am until the time of service at the church.
Memorials can be offered to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Country Gardens Assisted Living in Pigeon.
