Gladys F. Braun, 82 of Regal, died, Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Belgrade Nursing Home. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday December 12, 2014, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church where there will be a 5:30 Christian Mothers Rosary. Visitation will continue on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Regal. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade.
Gladys Frances Braun was born on October 5, 1932, on the family farm in Spring Hill Township, the daughter of John and Rose (Macke) Nietfeld. She grew up on the family farm and attended Melrose High School, graduating in 1951. On November 22, 1951, Gladys was united in marriage to Michael Braun in Meire Grove. They made their home near Regal where they farmed. In retirement they moved into the town of Regal. Gladys was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Regal. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, fishing and driving tractor in her farming days.
Gladys died on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Belgrade Nursing Home at the age of 82. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Michael; children, Catherine (Robert) Kohlmeier of Duluth, John (Jackie) Braun of Paynesville, Philip (Gale) Braun of St. Cloud, Michael (Carolyn) Braun of Belgrade and Gregory (Mary) Braun of Cold Spring; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sylvester (Ann) Nietfeld of Melrose and Patricia Meyer of Sauk Centre and sister-in-law, Shirley Nietfeld of Sauk Centre. She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers; three sisters and great-granddaughter, Delaney Braun.
