"Margaret Nietfeld, age 87 of Minneapolis, recently of Sauk Centre, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2002 at St. Michael's Home in Sauk Centre.

"Margaret Catherine Nietfeld was born on January 18, 1915 in Spring Hill Township to John T. and Rose (Macke) Nietfeld. She attended School Dist. 161. Margaret moved to the Twin Cities area as a young adult. She was hired by the Dayton Corporation and lived and worked in Minneapolis.

"She retired in 1978 after 35 years working in sales for the Dayton company. She was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church and continued to do volunteer work for the church and various hospitals and charities. She also belonged to the Minneapolis YWCA. Because of failing health, Margaret returned to live in Sauk Centre in June of this year.

"Some of Margaret's interests and hobbies included working in her flower garden, traveling abroad, reading, doing needlework and getting regular exercise. She especially enjoyed taking long walks and doing water aerobics. Attending the theatre and various concerts with family and friends was another favorite activity. Margaret enjoyed being with people and taking in the rich variety of social events the city had to offer.

"Margaret is survived by her four brothers and two sisters, Roman (Bess) Nietfeld of Houston, Texas, William Nietfeld of Darwin, Sylvester (Ann) Nietfeld of Meier Grove, Milton Nietfeld of Melrose, Gladys (Mike) Braun of Regal, and Pat Meyer of Sauk Centre; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

"Preceding her in death are her parents, five brothers, Henry, Dr. Aloys, Arnold Elmer, John and Joseph Nietfeld; two sisters, Clare Ellis and Catherine Meyer.

"A Mass of Resurrection was held at St. John the Baptist Church in Meire Grove with Fr. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Music was provided by the church choir.

"Crossbearer was Katie Meyer, lectors were Mary Meyer and Mary Pittelko and giftbearers were Gladys Braun, Milton and Sylvester Nietfeld. Interment was at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Meire Grove.

"Pallbearers were Ray, James and Richard Nietfeld, Michael H. Meyer, Michael E. Braun, Mark Meyer."
