Bruno Schneider
----------------------------------------------------
Bruno Schneider, a former member of the York police force, died suddenly at his residence, 26 East South Street, at 6 a.m. yesterday morning, (Sunday) November 28, 1920, while preparing to attend the first morning Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was 62 years, 1 month and 22 days old. Death was caused by a heart affection (with the primary cause of the sudden death being left Lobar pneumonia).

Mr. Schneider was a native of (Bavaria, which became part of) Germany, coming to this country at the age of eight (actually ten) years. (They emigrated after his father, Georg Peter Schneider, died around 1867).

* Bruno used the "Synder" spelling variation of his last name during most of his life in York. On April 30, 1889, he married Annie Bohli at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The first of their 7 children was born 9 months later.

He served as a patrolman, under Mayors Brant, Geise, and Gibson. (By trade, Bruno was a blacksmith, but was also worked as a clerk and fireman.) Lately, he has been in the employ of the Certain-teed Products Corporation (as a blacksmith in their machine shop) at its local plant, southwest of York.

Besides having been a member of the Knights of St. Paul, Foresters of America, Loyal Order of Moose, Rescue Fire Company, and the Firemen's Relief Association, he was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and (their) Holy Name Society.

Bruno leaves, beside his wife, a sister, Julia Schneider; three sons: Edward, Henry, and George Schneider; and three daughters, Mrs. F. C. Bayer; Julia; and Margaret Schneider, at home (their daughter Salome died just 2 years earlier).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday morning (Dec. 1st), leaving the house at 8:30 o'clock and proceeding to St. Mary's Catholic Church where Requiem High Mass will be held at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery.
