Stanley "Rev" Lubben, 84, of Le Mars passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at a local hospital in Le Mars.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars with Reverend Dr. Jean Ziettlow officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Abiding by his wishes, Stan donated his body to the University of South Dakota School of Medicine.

Stanley Lewis Lubben was born October 5, 1930, the sixth child of eight to John Henry and Eva Henrietta (Wendt) Lubben in Le Mars, Iowa. He attended school in Le Mars for a few years, before attending the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs. As a young man, Stan began his career in construction. He worked road construction as a cement finisher on projects in Iowa, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri and Arizona. Stan was united in marriage to Charlene Stoneking on December 13, 1958 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. In the late 1960's, Stan and Charlene settled in Le Mars to raise their family. Stanley and Charlene were blessed with two children: Paul and Micaiah.

Music was always a very important part of Stan's life. In earlier years, Stan taught dance at Arthur Murray School of Dance in Sioux City. He was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir; and preforming solo's for many services, funerals, and weddings often times with Charlene accompanying on the piano or organ. Along with singing, Stan enjoyed playing the organ and piano. He also enjoyed working in his garden in the summer months.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Charlene of Le Mars; two sons: Paul Lubben and his wife Delores of Phoenix, AZ and Micaiah Lubben of Chicago; 2 grandchildren: Miles John Lubben of Connecticut and Tyler Jon Lubben of Sailix, IA; three sisters: Bernice Sitzman of Le Mars, Audrey (Arnis) Jakobson of Chicago, and Hester (Jerry) Thoms of Sioux City; his in-laws: Joan Nafziger of Cleghorn, IA and Charles (Janet) Stoneking of Hartley, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Eva Henrietta (Wendt) Lubben; and siblings: Rosina Ritter, Harm Lubben, Martha Lubben, and Arthur Lubben.
