Richard H. Emme Sr. died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. He was 70.


Born and raised in Elizabeth, he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and resided in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township for the past 32 years.

At the time of his death, Mr. Emme worked in the real estate industry for 45 years, and was the owner of R.H. Emme Real Estate in Colonia for 16 years until 1991; and he currently operated Jersey Business Brokers in Woodbridge. He was a communicant of St. James R.C. Church in Woodbridge. He served in the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1956.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Barbara Enz Emme; two sons, Richard H. Emme Jr. and his wife, Darlene, of Middletown and Mark Emme and his wife, Patricia of Iselin; and seven grandchildren, Curran, Kylyn, Nolan, Austin, Heather, Wyatt and Jessica Emme.

Funeral services will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green St., Woodbridge, followed by a 9 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. James R.C. Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Relatives and friends may call from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad, Avenel Street and Manhattan Avenue, Avenel, NJ 07001.
