Lydia Winter
Lydia Winter, 84, of Greeley died Saturday, Feb. 13, at North Colorado Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 15, 1914, in Hoisington, Kan., to Fred and Elizabeth (Schafer) Jekel.
On Jan. 22, 1933, she married David Winter in Eaton. They recently celebrated their 66th anniversary.
During her childhood, Mrs. Winter lived in Michigan. She graduated from high school in Saginaw, Mich., where she played several sports, lettering in softball, volleyball and basketball. After her graduation, she moved to Windsor.
Mrs. Winter and her husband farmed in the Eaton and Galeton areas for more than 40 years. The couple retired in Greeley after farming in Lucerne from 1974-79.
Mrs. Winter enjoyed helping her husband on the farm, working in her flower gardens and spending time with her family.
She was a member of St. Paul's Congregational Church.
Survivors are her husband, David Winter of Greeley; a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Kent Anderson of San Antonio; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jean Winter of Bay City, Mich.; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Randia Winter of Greeley; two sisters, Esther Kassmeier of Schuyler, Neb., and Olinda Schwindt of Fort Collins; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her parents, five brother and one sister are deceased.
Friends may visit between 5-8 p.m. today at West Chapel, 2000 47th Ave.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Adamson Memorial West Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's Congregational Church in care of Adamson Memorial West Chapel.
