Annie was born in Dungannon, Ontario, where she grew up. She attended the local school where she learned to read and write. She was married to Robbie in 1900 and her parents gave her an organ as a wedding gift. They moved to Calgary area shortly thereafter, along with her brother and sisters.

Annie and Robbie farmed in Belfast for about 20 years before moving to Roxborough with their family. They continued farming there. Annie enjoyed baking. One of her stainless steel cookie sheets has now been baked on by five generations! She was a very stylish woman. The farm ledgers often note the purchase of a new hat or dress during their annual jaunts to London. They were among the first in their neighbourhood to own a television and frequently bought new cars.

Annie enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, always serving them warm bread as a snack. They made dandelion wine as well as preserves from the orchard they planted at Gladswood.
