On Aug. 18, 1947, Walter A.J. Martens was united in marrige to Evelyn D. Betz in Sanborn, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Ashton, Iowa, where they farmed for 34 years. They retired in 1981 and moved into Sheldon.
