Mr. Ernst Georg Hirschfeld, a generally respected and esteemed citizen died Friday evening, June 5, at his home 1½ miles southwest of here after a 5 day illness at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 16 days. The deceased was born in Ottenstein, District of Holzmuenden in Braunschweig and immigrated here many years ago. Through diligence and hard work he rose to become a prosperous man. He was married three times, the first time to Anna Barienbrock. This union produced 2 children, one of whom is living; the second marriage was to Elisabetha Jung, this produced 4 children, only one of whom is still living; and the third was to Louise Wartmeier, which produced 2 children, both living. He is survived by his wife and 4 grown children. Mr. Hirschfeld enjoyed great respect and popularity among his fellow citizens which was evidenced by the large attendance at his burial which took place at the Lock 2 Cemetery on Saturday afternoon. Pastor Buerkle conducted the funeral service.
