Vito was the oldest child of John Gagliardi & Minnie DeFelice Gagliardi. He was born with epilepsy. Since there was not much know about epilepsy back in the 20’s, 30’s & 40’s it was often considered a mental condition instead of a medical one. As an adult, Vito was confined to the Selinsgrove State Colony for Epileptics. Only functioning adults were allowed admittance to this facility because it was a working farm. Vito had to work the farm land daily until his death at the age of 22.
