She was born Jan. 30, 1912 near New Canton to Harry and LuElla Miles Dolbeare. She married Harvey McCallister July 28, 1932 in the El Dara Christian Church. He died in February 1964.
Mrs. McCallister attended Diamond Hill School most of her early years and finished at Crozier School. She attended Rockport High School for three years, transferring her fourth year to Barry High School where she graduated in 1930. She was a member of the El Dara Christian Church, a church that an ancestor, Rozel Dolbeare, helped finance and erect. In 1955 she started cooking in local restaurants in Barry and Pittsfield and was well known for her homemade pies. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, yard work, cooking and baking pies for family and friends, and traveling.
Survivors include one son, two daughters, two brothers, five sisters, six grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Harold McCallister; a granddaughter, Teresa Evans, three brothers, Donald, Herschall and Alfred Dolbeare; and a sister, Marjorie Dolbeare.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 23, at the El Dara Christian Church with the Rev. Alan Shope officiating. Burial was at Samuel Taylor Cemetery near Rockport. Memorials are suggested to the El Dara Christian Church or the American Diabetes Association.
