Eva Gerhardt was born on April 2, 1927 near Flasher, ND, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Vogel) Gerhardt. In 1946, she married Frank J. Ehli at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Flasher. From this marriage six children were born. On September 29, 1972, she was joined in marriage to John W. Swanson in Sturgis, SD. John and Eva lived in Mandan until John's retirement, they then moved to Pick City, ND where they lived for fifteen years. Following that, they moved to Mandan and resided at Liberty Heights. John and Eva had the opportunity to travel; they treasured the time they spent together doing so. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and doing various crafts. Eva possessed a special talent for cooking…she especially liked cooking the old German dishes. Dancing and listening to old time music was a favorite pastime of hers.
