Walter G. Meier, age 94, of 631 Oak Street, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at his residence after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Jim Altman will officiate. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM And Tuesday at the Church form 10:00-11:00 AM. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Walter was born December 20, 1917 in Sherry, WI to Paul and Gertrude (Wechorek) Meier. He married Leatrice Seefluth on July 14, 1951 at St. Mary's Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Walter was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Wisconsin Rapids, WI for many years retiring in 1980.

Walter served in the U.S. Army during World War II from September 10, 1941 until October 10, 1945. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1558 of Wisconsin Rapids. Walter enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and playing cards.

Walter is survived by his wife, Leatrice; son, Eugene Meier of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; four daughters, Kathleen (Tom) McEvers of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Karen (Jerry) Greenwold of Barron, WI, Susan Meier of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Linda (Varis) Kukainis of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 7 grandchildren, Lindsey, Ashley, Maija, Mara, Kira, Spencer and Evan and 1 great grandchild, Brynleigh.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Richard and Albert and sister. Gertrude Beidl.
