Andreas Schindler was born ca 1811 in S. Russian. He immigrated to the US on the ship "Martha" arriving on Oct. 23, 1885 along with his wife, Jacobina, and his son and daughter-in-law, Johann & Juliana Schindler, and their 6 children. According to family records they settled in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. His date of death is uncertain, but occurred after he filed his Naturalization Declaration of Intent on Nov. 16, 1887, but before the U.S. Census was recorded June 5, 1900, which lists Jacobina as widowed and living with her daughter and son-in-law, Jacob and Eva Edelmann in Menno, SD. Andreas is most likely buried in an unmarked grave in Menno Cemetery along with his wife. ~ Bio by gt. granddaughter Margo Erick.
