Tom was the third child of Joseph Whilding Wheeler and Isabella Gilmore.

On February 23, 1875, Thomas was registered as a British Subject at the Brithish Consulate in Argentina, aged 9, residing at Lobos, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina and having the following physical features: growing height, fair hair and brown eyes. Remarks: Medway- year 1871.

Due to the fact his parents were English, he was recorded as being a British Subject and having the same rights as theirs, though he had been born and previously christened in Argentina.

However, in the event of his family making a trip to Wimbledon, England, between the years 1868/70, he was re-baptized at Saint Nicholas, Tooting Graveney, Surrey, England, on August 22, 1869.

On June 17, 1893, Tom, aged 27, bachelor, protestant and employee, got married at the Parish of Inmaculada Concepción, Venado Tuerto, Province of Santa Fe, with Juana 'Josefa' Mariño, aged 30, single, catholic, lawful daughter of Ramón Mariño, Spanish, and of Dominga Gonzales, being Juan José and Ramona Mariño, witnesses to the ceremony.

The couple had the following children: Josefina 'Esther', Sofía Elena, José Ramón and Eloy Samuel.

He was the first mayor (presidente comunal) of Maggiolo, Province of Santa Fe, Argentina. It is for this reason why the annual Cultural Olympiads bear his name. We are invited every year to represent the Wheeler family at the said celebration.

He is recorded on a list of English-speaking residents in Argentina, taken from the John Grant and Sons Directory, dated 1900/1901, as being Administrator-General, at Colonia Loreto, District of General Lopez, Province of Santa Fe.

In 1917, he was promoted as a town candidate in the local elections for the town of Cafferata, Santa Fe.

Later on he is listed in the Krafts Yearbook, dated 1926, as an agrarian producer by trade, at El Cantor (read Cafferata)

His wife died in 1932 and he died of a heart failure, at 82 years of age. His grave is shared by his wife and his daughter Sofía Elena.

His siblings were: *Mark Moreton, *Lydia, Mary Ellen, Eli Samuel, 'Eloy', Emma Sophia and *Jessie Grace and he was half brother of *Elizabeth and Wallace Woodbine Whilding.
*(died at a short age or at childbirth)
