The funeral of Rudolph Wegener was held this afternoon from the Congregational church, the Rev. M. Stein officiating. the pallbearers were C. Oppel, N. P. Ward, T. R. Aiton, G. G. S. Campbell, M. Kraemer, and F. VonBaumbach. the ceremonies were in charge of the Odd Fellows lodge and were very impressive. The members assembled at their hall. They marched to the house and from there acted as an escort to the church and cemetery. A short but impressive address was made by the Rev. Mr. Stein. At the grave the Odd Fellows gave their beautiful service. The funeral arrangements were in charge of Col. Ward.
It was probably the largest funeral cortege ever seen in Alexandria. Not only was the church filled, but the many outside the building would have swelled the attendance to a thousand persons. One hundred Odd Fellows were in line and the fire department attended in a body. The procession to the cemetery was nearly a mile long.
