Peter Kimmel 1st married Phoebe Husband, daughter of Herman Husband, she was born October 23, 1776 and died during the birth of son Singleton Husband Kimmel. Peter then married Mary Weaver.
Peter was the 2nd sheriff of Somerset Co., Pa. elected Oct. 1798. In 1800, he was listed as farmer, tanner, and blacksmith. April 1801 ,he entered in to contract with the County Commissioners to build two public offices of brick for the use of the county. These two were completed in 1802.
He lived in Somerset until 1813, when he moved to Pittsburgh, Pa. Then in 1820, he moved to Jackson Co., later to Union Co., Ill., and was a farmer until his death.
