August Severit, Sr., 82-year-old retired school custodian of 319 South 10th Street, died at his home at 4:10 o'clock this morning following a year's illness. A coal miner for many years, Mr. Severit subsequently became janitor of the Henry Raab School, a position he held until his retirement when 70 years old.
Born in Germany on December 21, 1868, Mr. Severit was a son of the late Fred and Louise Severit, nee Hacker [Hacke], also natives of Germany, and married Katie Ripplinger in Belleville on December 19, 1891.
Surviving besides his wife are his children;

Funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon from Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home to Walnut Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Robert J. Herman, assistant pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church, will officiate. The pallbearers will be Elmer Sterthman, Jr., Howard Birkner, Ralph and Don Weidemann, Irvin Hadorn and Pete Ripplinger.
