She was born on August 31, 1907, in Brighamm City, Utah, a daughter of Joseph and Hanna Nelsen Berchtold.
She married Leo Thomas Young on September 7, 1927, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away on June 30, 1991.
Ruth was a member of the LDS Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and in the Relief Society Presidency.
She had been employed at American Sportsware.
Ruth loved to go fishing with her husband and to work in the garden. She collected salt and pepper shakers as a hobby.
She crocheted afagans for all her grandchildren and tried to do receiving blankets for her great-grandchildren. Ruth loved being surrounded by her family.
Ruth is survived by three sons and one daughter, Darwin L. Young, Perry, Utah; Lyle J. Young, Brigham City, Utah; Pete Young, Brigham City, Utah and Ruthie Christoffersen, Brigham City, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be held June 18, 1996 in the Brigham City Cemetery, Brigham City, Utah.
