Born Johan Otto Morgenschweis in Rosenberg, Germany, Dom Liboruis attended high school seminary in Regensburg, and was a veteran of the First World War, injured in battle on the Russian Front. After the war, he entered St. Otillien Archabbey in Essing near Munich, and was ordained on July 15, 1925. He then served for many years as a missionary priest in Manchuria, China, and was later Procurator for the Benedictine Missions in the Far East. He came to Schuyler in 1941, and was the pastor of Holy Cross parish in Bancroft, NE. A priest for 57 years, Fr. Liborius died at Schuyler in 1982, age 85.
