Christian was married in Switzerland in 1802 to Katherina (1773- 27 Dec 1841). They had four daughters: Anne (1804-1882), Elizabeth (1805-1898), Catharine (1807-1892) and Barbara (1810-1887). The family emigrated from Switzerland in 1817, settling in Wayne County, Ohio.
"According to Creative Congregationalism by James O. Lehman, Christian was a minister by 1818, purchasing land in the same year in Green Township. A descendant of Christian's in 1940 found among his possessions an Amish ministers manual that Christian had brought with him from Switzerland. Christian was still active as a minister in 1855 and is listed as one of three significant ministers who served the church. Oak Grove Church and parsonage stand on ground originally belonging to Christian Brandt."

On the 20th of Dec., 1866, near Smithville, Wayne Co., Ohio, Pre. CHRISTIAN BRANT, aged 83 years, 11 months, and 25 days. He was buried on the 22nd at the Omish [sic] Mennonite Meeting-house, where a funeral sermon was preached by Bro. Samuel Yoder of Pennsylvania from 2 Tim. 4: 6-8, and by the writer from 1 Thess. 4: 13, 14. Bro. Brant was born in the Canton of Bern in Switzerland, where he was called to the ministry of the word, more than fifty years ago. He endeavored to perform the duties of his office faithfully.
