Alvin Leo Niekamp, 81, died peacefully with his loving family by his side, Thursday, April 23, 2015. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2015, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Rosary to follow. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellmead. Burial to follow in Waco Memorial Park.

Alvin was born in Lott, Texas, to the late Annie and John Henry Niekamp. The family moved to Riesel where Alvin graduated high school in 1952. On June 1, 1957, he married Ella Mae Hefelfinger.

Alvin worked for Hammond Industries, Marathon Battery and eventually retired from Trane. After retirement, he worked for Callan Equipment where he had many fond memories. Alvin’s happiest times were spent at the family’s fish fries, barbeques and especially watching his grandchildren’s football and baseball games. He and Ella Mae were life-long members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellmead.

Alvin was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, Andrew, Anton and Raymond; sisters, Ida and Mary.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ella Mae; daughters, Deborah Person and husband, Randal, of Riesel, and Patricia Crow and fiancé, Allen Hueston, of Waco; son, Kenneth Niekamp and wife, Brenda, of Riesel; grandsons: Jeremy and Corbin Niekamp, Gared and Dylon Person, and Landan and Davey Durham; great-grandson, Trevor Person; great-granddaughter, Kaizlee Person; sisters, Irene and husband, James, of DeSoto, and Dorthy, of Windsor, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
