Uncle Alex arrived in America on the S.S. Patricia from Hamburg, Germany on November 7, 1910.
He is listed on the passenger records at Ellis Island as being 18 years of age, single, and of Russian/Polish ethnicity.
His place of residence is listed as Mowagrade, Russia. There is a hand-written notation by the person who obtained the record that indicates this may also be known as "Nowogrod," in "old Lomza province."
His name is spelled "Alexander Terciak" in the passenger record.

He enlisted in the US Army on 9/4/1918 and was honorably discharged at Fort Dix on 1/27/1919. His discharge papers list him as having been a "truckman" by occupation, and state that he had "grey eyes, dark hair, fair complexion, and was 5 feet 6 1/2 inches in height." His discharge papers list "battles, engagements, skirmishes, expeditions: none."

He owned Alex's Tavern in Great Meadows until retiring in 1962.

He was the son of Louis and Agnes Ustaszewski Terick (Tercyak.)

He was survived by his widow, two sons, three daughters, three sisters, and nine grandchildren.
