Kenny was born February 25, 1938 in Bismarck to John and Catherine (Lee) Fitzgerald. He was raised and educated in Wing, ND.
Kenny enlisted into the US Navy in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1958. Upon his return from the Navy, Kenny began his career as a bricklayer. Kenny then began to work for Gerlach Heating & Air. In the late 1970's, he began his own business, K & L Refrigeration/Ken's Heating & Air, and did this until his retirement. He also owned and operated the Hi-Way Motel for several years.
Kenny had a great passion for the sport of rodeo. He also liked to dance at the Lonesome Dove and spending time with friends and having coffee.
He is survived by his children: Deborah (Kevin) Klemmer, Sandra (Jeff) McLean, Kent (Tracy), Kevin (Cheryl) and Michael (Kris); brothers Marvin (Sonia) and Howard (Karen); sisters Marlene Ziemer, Janet (Sam) Hunter and LaVonne Aadland; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents.
