Grace Christine Janssen was born to Carl and Ida (Poel) Janssen on October 22, 1922. Her life began in rural Moody County on a farm east of Trent, SD. She attended country school and was a lifelong member of the Reformed Church in Dell Rapids.
On June 2, 1945, Grace was united in marriage with Melvin J. Muller. She actively participated in farming with Melvin east of Dell Rapids where they raised their four children. Grace moved to Dell Rapids in 1994 and in 2005, became a resident of Dow Rummel in Sioux Falls.
Grace was involved with the Women's Guild, taught Bible School and Sunday School classes, and her children's activities as they grew up. She very much enjoyed the bible study groups she was involved in.
Grace enjoyed embroidery and handwork, as well as reading. She sewed many dresses for her daughters and made her grandchildren smile with her handmade Monkey George and Raggedy Ann dolls.
Grace's devout faith was the center of her life. She expressed that faith through the many beautiful, personal prayers she wrote over the years. Along with her faith, her deep love for her family was always evident. She loved to gather with her family to celebrate life and we cherish the love and laughter that we shared. Grace also valued the importance of education and stressed this to her children and grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, Carl and Ida Janssen; brother, Hauko Carl; and an infant sister.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Roger (Karen) Muller, of Carmel, IN; daughters Marilyn (Larry) Schoolmeester, of Edgerton, MN; Carol Muller, of Sioux Falls; Debra Muller, of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Timothy (Jenny) Schoolmeester, of Dell Rapids; Julie Schoolmeester, of Sioux Falls; Thomas (Jessica) Schoolmeester, of Sioux Falls; Bryce Muller, of Carmel, IN; and Kari Muller, of Westfield, IN; and the brightest sparkle in her eye, her great-grandson, Luke Schoolmeester, of Dell Rapids, SD.
Interment will be in the Logan Reformed Cemetery in Dell Rapids.
