A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Mercedes Lozano, age 68 of Lamesa, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial will follow to Dawson County Cemetery under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Mercedes passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on April 28, 1947 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Mercedes married Carlos Lozano on August 25, 1965 in Lamesa. She was a homemaker all of her life, she enjoyed cooking, working out crossword puzzles and spending time with her beloved ones.
Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Dometila Garcia; her sister, Oralia Sammarripas, her brothers, Liandro Garcia and Juan Garcia; her great grandson, Ethan Rocha.
Mercedes is survived by her family, her husband of 49 years, Carlos Lozano of Lamesa, Texas; her children, daughters, Brenda Lopez and Chayo Cortez, Joann Gonzales and Emiliano Gonzales, all of Lamesa, Texas, Kathy Tagle and Felix Tagle of Midland, Texas, Maisie Hill and Joseph Hill of Irving, Texas, Sandra Lozano of Lamesa, TEXAS; her one and only son, Ben Lozano of Lamesa, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
