Harry Ceedar was one of five children of Lazarus (sometimes shown as Lester) Ceedar and Rachel Shyman (in birth order): Victor Ceedar, Gladys (Ceedar) Sherman, Harry, Sylvia Ceedar, and Lillian "Lillie" Ceedar.
Victor was born on 17 Sep 1901 in Manchester, England, and died on 13 Feb 1965 in Cook County, Illinois. If he and his wife Bessie had any children, they were born after 03 Apr 1940.
On 05 Jan 1920, Harry and Lillie were living at The Chicago Home for Jewish Orphans. Lillie was still there on 07 Apr 1930, but Harry was out on his own. Harry and Lillie never married. There is no indication that Gladys and her husband Stanley had any children.
Harry was a retired railroad freight handler. His sisters Gladys and Lillie lived with him for several years until their deaths a few years before he died. He was in poor health and only left his Edgewater apartment, where he had lived for 20 years, to buy groceries nearby.
Harry was last seen on April 3, 1986. He was found murdered in his apartment.
