East Gary - Services for John Paul Kimmel, 81, of 4123 E. 25th Ave., former East Gary School Board president and resident of East Gary for 46 years, who died Saturday at Hines Veteran Hospital, will be 1 pm Wednesday at Olson and Frum Portage Chapel with Rev. Orla Bradford officiating. Burial will be in McCool Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund or First United Methodist Church of Portage, of which he was a member.
He was also a member of Portage American Legion, Post 260, and was a former president of the East Gary School Board, on which he served as a member from 1932 to 1945. He was a retired accountant of US Steel Corp. with 30 years service.
He is survived by the widow, the former Sara Samuelson, whose parents were pioneers of the McCool area; a son, Elwood of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Doris Jean Cripliver of East Gary; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
