Mrs. Keil was born in Belleville, August 4, 1852, and was a daughter of the late Carl and Henrietta Ulrich, nee Brehme. Her parents were natives of Germany.
On October 28, 1873, she was united in marriage with Charles Keil of Belleville. Mr. Keil, who operated a hardware store on East Main street for many years, died in September 1917. The business is still being conducted by his son, Walter A. Keil.
Mrs. Keil is survived by six children:
~ Bertha E., wife of Walter J. Kohl, 226 N Douglas ave.
~ Walter A. Keil, 511 Court Street
~ Miss Rose S. Keil, 213 East E Street
~ Ella, wife of Walter Fernau, 520 East C Street
~ Miss Martha H. Keil, 213 East E Street
~ Cornelia, wife of Charles Freudenberg, 512 Court Street
She also leaves three sisters:
Mrs. Minnie Guidra, St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. William James, St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Will B. Willis, E. St. Louis, Ill.
She leaves eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Keil was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Church, the Ladies' Aid Society of St. Paul Church, the Women's Union, the Daughters of Naomi, the Philharmonic Society and the Illinois Children's Home Society.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the residence to St. Paul Evangelical Church with Rev. Otto F. Pessel, the pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Renner-Schneider Undertaking Co. will have charge of the funeral.
