The death of Fred Raithel, 65 years old, occurred at his home on the Boonville road at 9 o'clock last night. Mr. Raithel, who was operated upon in Boonville ten weeks ago, had never fully recovered, and his death was due to diabetes.
He is survived by Mrs. Raither, two sons, Christ Raithel of the St. Louis road, and Ed Raithel of Marion, and one daughter, Mrs. Kate Francis at Marion. He also leaves two brothers, Julius Raithel of the Schott road, and Adam Raithel of Elston, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Swaller of Elston, and fourteen grandchildren.
Mr. Raithel was a member of the Evangelical Church. No arrangements have been made for the funeral.

Frederich Raithel was born 15 Jan 1857 on a farm on the Schott Road four miles east of Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri, the son of Wolfgang Adam Raithel and Magdalena Heisinger Raithel. He married Catherine “Trena” Wolfrum, on 05 May 1881 at the Central Evangelical Church in Jefferson City. Catherine was the daughter of Ulrich Wolfrum and Katherine Puchta, neighbors of the Raithels on Schott Road. In 1883, Fred and Trena moved to the Philip Ott farm (formerly the McKenzie farm) at Marion, Cole County, Missouri. In February, 1884, they bought the 350 acre farm. Fred and Trena had three children: Christian Frederich, Edmund Ulrich, and Katherine.
In 1909-1910, Fred retired from farming and bought a house on West Main Street in Jefferson City. He sold the farm to two of his children, Edmund Raithel and Katherine Raithel Garnett. In 1911 Fred and Trena bought a small farm on Boonviile Road where Fred raised vegetables that he sold in Jefferson City.
Fred died 18 Nov 1921 from diabetes and is buried in Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
