WILHELM CHRISTOPHER RITZ — A member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and formerly an active worker in the church's Sunday School, Wilhelm Christopher Ritz, died February 13 in Chilliwack General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.J. Grams from Henderson's Funeral Chapel yesterday afternoon with burial in the IOOF Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Albert Somner, Julius Bodner, John Miller, Alfred Giesler, Fred Krause and Fred Pahl.
Mr. Ritz was born in Bessarabia, Russia on October 19, 1886. Upon emigrating to Canada, he resided at Leader, Sask., from 1927 to 1945 and then moved to Thorsby, Alta., where he remained until 1948. He then came to Chilliwack. His home was at 152 Mellard Avenue.
Surviving him are his wife Hulda; three daughters, Mrs. L. (Emma) Kandt, Wynndel, B.C.; Mrs. Alice Krause, Peace River, Alta.; Mrs. H. (Frieda) Giesler, Chilliwack; five sons, Albert, Jenner, Alta.; Rudolph, Hugo and Helmuth in Edmonton, and Erwin at Portage La Prairie; 25 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Susan Trautwein, Leader, Sask., Mrs. Minnie Gotz, Wittenberg, Germany and Mrs. Andrew Albrecht, Leader, Sask.; one brother Ferdinand Ritz, Chilliwack.

Wilhelm married Lydia DOERING in 1909 probably at Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. This union was blessed with 3 children; Emma, Albert and Rudolph. Lydia died in March 1919 at Mathildendorf, Bender, Bessarabia, South Russia.
Wilhelm married Hulda SUCKO on the 12th of February 1920 at Tarutino, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. The couple was blessed with 5 children; Hugo, Helmuth, Alice, Frieda and Erwin.
The Wilhelm and Hulda RITZ family immigrated to the Canadian Prairies in 1927. Wilhelm and Hulda retired to Chilliwack, British Columbia in 1948.
