Mrs. Geraldine Krakoski, 85, of Bethlehem, PA, formerly of Dushore, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem.
She was born April 26, 1923 to the late Floyd and Agatha Middendorf Hembury on the family farm in Cherry Township. She was raised, along with her twin sister Agatha, by her aunts and uncle, Victoria, Helen and Julius Lusch, on the Lusch farm on Ringer Hill. Gerry attended St. Basil’s High School, Class of 1941, where she and Aggie, affectionately known as “the twins,” entertained friends and classmates with their infectious smiles, mischievous antics and carefree spirits. She was a sprightly teenager, arresting young woman, devoted wife and beloved mother. She married John “Harder” Krakoski on April 25, 1946, and they raised their seven rambunctious children in her family’s farmhouse, where she lived until moving to Allentown in 1981. She was a longtime dedicated member of St. Basil’s Catholic Church in Dushore and later attended St. Simon’s Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Richard Gryska of Elmira, NY and Kathy and John McKinley of Glenmoore; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kay Evelyn Krakoski of Dushore, David and Deborah Krakoski of Spring, TX, Kenneth Krakoski of King of Prussia; daughters-in-law Patricia and Diane Krakoski, and sister, Gertrude Lantz of Venice, FL. She was lovingly known as “Nana” to her grandchildren, Stephanie, Phillip, Audra, Jessica, Elaine, Sarah, John-Michael, Emma and Claire Krakoski and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Krakoski (May 27, 1975); daughter, Cheryl Krakoski (June 13, 1998); son, Thomas Krakoski (May 17, 2003); brother Joseph Hembury (Dec. 30, 1991) and sisters Agatha Aldridge (June 15, 1988) and Mary McEwen in 1976. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, Sept. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Basil’s Church in Dushore, with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, pastor, presiding. Interment was in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Memorial donations in Gerry’s name may be sent to Holy Family Manor, 1200 Spring Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore. To send condolences or sign the e-guestbook, please go to homerfuneralhome.com.
